Are you looking for new or used rifles? Typically forums like this one will offer better deals than most dealers. Gun shows are also a good place to shop...
I would say go out, do a ton of research, and build your own.
If you buy parts used you can build an awesome ar, and shave hundreds off the price.
You make it sound like you are only gonna have one!
What do you want it for? Just to have and fondle? Plink? Hunting? Competitions?
How much money you got?
I don't buy complete rifle, I buy stripped lowers and complete uppers. Lowers can be built by a monkey and couple of punches. Plus you get the trigger and the stock you want.
I'll stop buying black rifles when my wife stops buying black shoes.
