Hi,
as a long time yote hunter, i can tell you that alot of the electronic calls today are ...well.. over engineered junk. There are a handful that are actualy
good, but agian they sure cost! Most of them rely on the fact that they can
be operated remotely so that you distract the coyotes attention from you.
Trust me, if you move into an area that has not been hunted much, your going to get some success at first, then they are going to wise up and your
going to get skunked. They learn real quick what calls mean bad news... many times they will just go nocturnal on you... and they can see you for MILES...litterally.. if you so much as bat an eyelid while they are coming in
on you they can spook and run...which is why coyote hunting is such an art unto itself. you must become the master of disguise, smell, and shooting hide tactics.. to be successful for the long term. otherwise just go out and try to
blast one now and then and maby get lucky, until they get onto you, or the sound of your vehicle...ect..

as for what you need, well, a colorado small game lisc .. no tags are needed any longer, you can hunt them year round. you can use whatever gun suits your fancy.. anything bigger than a 243 is just rediclous. most use a 220, 204, 223,22-250, 25-06, and a few others that fall in that range. a 22 mag isnt a good choice, coyotes are darn hard to kill, so i wish you much luck out east where its really flat and those suckers can see and smell for miles.

basically a good little mouse squeeker, and a howler are about all you really need, it takes abit of learning of course, but if you learn right you cant carry on conversations with coyotes.. they have a language amongst themselves... be advised that when you start calling, its going to get really busy... every critter in the world will show up to see what all the fuss is about... birds are the worst... and you want to kind of watch out for does, they tend to storm in looking to stomp the crap out of some critter picking on another critter... and if your in the right places...bears and lions can respond...although i dont think you will have that problem out east.

its best to hunt mornings and late afternoons.. or at night.

well i hope this helps.
good luck
