    Default Cutting a barrel

I just found a really good deal on a 16" barrel. Is it possible to cut down a 16" barrel to 14,5" and permanently weld a longer flash hider on it to make it legal? Is this something that can be done, or am I only asking for trouble?

If it can be done, does anyone know who does this?

    Thanks

Yes it can be done and shouldn't be trouble. I don't know who to refer you to though.

Yes it can be done. Don't know anyone specific in Denver, but down here in the springs, either Earl Hickman or I could do it.

I was thinking of doing this same thing. But would it be possible to go one step further, have the short barrel threaded and the brake just spot welded into place? Kind of like they do on the AMD AK's. That way later if you decide to get a SBR stamp all that needs to be done is spot weld removed?

Sorry to the OP for whoring your thread but I thought I would just ask in here in lieu of making a whole new thread.

    Thanks.

No problem su405, I was kinda thinking of the same thing anyway. I would rather have it threaded too, so good question. Anyone have an answer for this?

    Thanks

As long as it is welded and not easily removable is the key.
