Here is the information a person would use to request the ATF lookup a firearm's serial number if the gun was lost or stolen. Note: The Federal Firearms Licensee (dealer) who sold you the firearm must be "out-of-business (OOB)," otherwise they claim they cannot conduct the search.

Records get turned over after the dealer goes out of business and are presumably kept forever.

I did not get a chance to put hands on the weapon. I as given a copy of the picture as I am a gun guy in hopes that I could help identifying it. I believe that a request has been sent to the ATF but as we all know fed time is a lot slower than our time.
