I went and saw Predators tonight. Some interesting new alien twists in it. Lots of talk about humanity in it. Lots of gun stuff. One really big plot hole in it towards the end, but it doesn't necessarily ruin the movie. I would wait for the DVD.

Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.
Anyone that thinks war is good is ignorant. Anyone that thinks war isn't needed is stupid.
The wifey and I saw Inception today....
INCREDIBLE FILM! Christopher Nolan is the best filmmaker today IMO, bar none. He's a real talent. Memento is one of my top 3 fave films, but Inception is right up there now with it. One review I read described it as a cross between James Bond and The Matrix. That's VERY accurate.
Don't wait for a rental, check it out in the theater! It's worth it.
Glad to hear that Inception was good. I've been wanting to see it from the previews.
Speaking of Leonardo Dicaprio movies, we just watched Shutter Island. I really enjoyed the movie and would like to discuss it with anyone else who saw it. I suggest using white font for any spoilers so people have to highlight the font in order to read it and won't ruin it for themselves.

Driftwood, did your audience groan at the end of Inception? I agree, what an amazing film. We're going back to see it, probably next week so that it's had a chance to fade a little from our memory. In the meantime, I should probably get round to showing my wife Memento. She loved Dark Knight and The Prestige too so I'm sure she'll be up for it.
So, Shutter Island. What was your take on the ending? >Was he still delusional, or was he faking it so he could be lobotomized and finally forget what he had done to his wife?<
"A lot of people seem obliged to have a viewpoint."
On Shutter Island:
>I feel like he was faking it to get the lobotomy. He made the comment about "...living as a monster or die as a good man?" then he willingly went with the staff. Had he actually relapsed like he had done before, he never would have just gotten up and allowed himself to be led off by the staff. The more I think about this, the more I think I came to the correct conclusion because of the remarks made earlier in the film where the German doctor is telling him how he will never back down from any physical confrontation.
What I thought was interesting, is the way that the camera panned to the light house as the very last scene. To me, this indicates that the light house is indeed where they would perform the lobotomy, and to me, kind of validates his quest in the rest of the movie, since they were in fact performing surgeries in the light house. If the whole ordeal was an elaborate role play with a predictable ending, then clearing the light house of the operation equipment would have been relatively easy to do.<

Jake when I read this about Watchmen, it reminded me of you.

Don't read if you haven't seen Watchmen.

another double-thumbs-up for Inception, excellent film
bonus: the preview reel has the first trailer for Tron: Legacy
No, the audience didn't groan when we went. Yours did? I personally didn't think it was groan worthy, not sure why some would.
Per Inception, my wife and I were arguing about the end. LOL. Spoilers: So do you think he was still dreaming or do you think he woke up when he saw his kids? There's two clips of the totem that he spins 1, of when he first starts spinning it and 2, when they pan back to it and show it still spinning. I recall that the 2nd time when they show it spinning it was spinning perfectly with no wobble (wobble thus indicating it's going to stop and he's not dreaming) but my wife recalls it wobbling the last they show it. Do you remember which it is?
Shutter Island: I agree with the lighthouse scene, Stu. That was my impression, as well. Nefarious things were indeed transpiring there, IMO.
