Ok, you've convinced me, I'm going to catch the matinee. I just watched No Country for Old Men last night, wow that was exhausting (in a good way).

So HoHW was... ok. It really painted gunners in a bad light: bumbling, haphazard shooters at best, reckless dangers-to-others at worst (I guess those are both the same). Not to mention them sticking the Gadsden Flag in the trailer-home of the character with zero morals, that's typical.
The actors did great jobs, but the main characters... maybe I'm too law-abiding. They do a fair job of vilifying the banks (and to be sure, banks have had some downright predatory behavior in the past/present/future), but I wish they had at least paid lip-service to the other side of the coin of "know what contract you're signing." In other words, personal responsibility was taking a snooze during this film.
If you really like Westerns on the big screen, then go ahead and see it. If you'd rather not pay $$$ into the hollywood machine that stereo-types you all day long, then wait for it at the redbox (when you only pay hollywood $2.00).
I absolutely can see your points, I don't want to go into the plot too much to avoid spoilers but it'd be a fun discussion after a fair amount of folks have seen it. I can't speak for Texas but I knew a few places in Arizona when I worked there that those scenes would've played out exactly as depicted lol. I can't remember how many times I've seen American flags in criminal's homes but never the Gadsden.
This looks like a good'un, Hacksaw Ridge. https://youtu.be/_15I-agW2OEhttps://youtu.be/_15I-agW2OE
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!

Thanks for the merge.
I've been picking up dolby atmos movies lately and watching them on my 135 inch projector, I have to say atmos technology makes home theaters pretty cool. All the overhead sounds really add depth. It'll be interesting to see if they speed up release of movies for atmos sound systems, right now there's only around 40 dvds
I saw it today with my girlfriend today. I thought it was an excellent movie. IMO it had the same feel as "No Country for Old Men". The cast was great, the plot kept me entertained, and it was just the right time length. I know KestrelBike pointed out some of the finer points of the movie, but you have to go into it knowing it's just that.
As for me...I think the banks are outright crooks and will gladly steal the money off of your dead body if given the chance. They are corporate thieves and liars, the lot of them. But that's my feelings on it.
Now, I think it's on to Hacksaw Ridge.
The character of a man can be judged by how he treats those who can do nothing for him
I've been watching Peaky Blinders. Wonderful show.
