I really like the gun play in Revolver. Real Rock n' Rolla is awesome as well; has Gerard Butler in it.

EDIT: I'm about to go to sleep, but if I had Revolver still, I'd watch it right now. Love that movie.

EDIT 2: In American films, Jason Stratham and Gerard Butler are in mostly shitty movies. They are great in these Guy Ritchie films though.

Watched Machete. Pretty fun action movie. If you get keyed up over the immigration issue, skip this one.

Okay, I'll admit that the preview for Revolver looks exactly like something I'd enjoy - gona have to find it and check it out.

I loved the original "True Grit" with JW. I, too, was torn about seeing it because I thought, "Why just watch a remake when I can watch the Duke in the original?"

But I did some reading and found the reviews positive and that it was faithful to the book. So yesterday, my son/DIL/wife and I went to see it.

While it was very similar to the original, their were some differences that added up to a worthwhile experience. I don't see many movies in theaters...last one was "Gran Torino"...but I'm glad I saw this one.

When watching westerns there are 3 actors by whom I judge all others: John Wayne, Robert Duvall and Clint Eastwood. After this movie I may have to add Jeff Bridges to the list. And the young girl that played Mattie did a fine job, too.

The modern touches, such as very slightly more graphic realism (gunshot wounds, etc...) were an improvement. That's not to say there was a lot of blood and gore. There wasn't. Just a little more realism. And the sounds were a tremendous improvement over the original. The scenery and cinematography were good, but I'd say no better than the original. Guns seemed to be very realistic.

All in all, I was pleased and enjoyed the movie. It's probably one I'll get on DVD...as a matter of fact, I'll probably get both the new and the original.

I'd give it two thumbs up. And for those like me who hate going to theaters, it's worth it...unless you have a really superb home theater system you'll miss out. It was meant to be seen on the big screen.

Well put. I saw it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. The Mattie character had me rollin'. I cannot compare it to the original because I have never seen it. I'll remedy that soon.

As far as Guy Ritchie goes I'm still partial to Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels as his best.
