That Elcan is twice as big as the gun.
That Elcan is twice as big as the gun.
Is that an ACR I see?
Yes that is an ACR. Had about 4500 rds through and then started having issues. Broken extractor IIRC.

Is this the Elcan with the 1 to 4x toggle lever?
H.
Yes it's a 1-4x Elcan ... he later switched to an Aimpoint.
The guys that wear suits and work back in the Investigations Bureau often refer to this kind of thing as "A clue"![]()
When I look at these pictures I'm left with one thought. That's a lot of money in guns and gear out there. If you can afford the gear, you should be able, and should require yourself, to afford the training.
Someday I'll practice what I preach.
Not sure I follow? The Elcan is too large/heavy? I'd like to have a red-dot with optional 4x zoom on my rifle, and the two options I've seen seem to be this Elcan and the dual red dot/scope setup that we see a number of in these images. Weight is a priority issue, but so is a great sight picture.

You will always be faster with a non magnified red dot than you will with a magnified optic (even at 1x).
I used a S&B Short Dot (1.1-4x) for SWAT for a couple years. I'm back to using Aimpoints.
Instead of fighting his gear, the student opted to go with an Aimpoint.
