Default Gotta Blow Off Some Steam

Warning: Rant Below--Stop reading if you don't want to hear me complaining

So I've been trying to trade a pistol over the net for the last couple weeks. Mind you I've had great luck so far with this in the past so I was trying to ride lady luck till she ran out. Well she almost ran out on me today. I got a offer from "MR BS" (that's what I'll call him) about a week ago and we've been emailing pics back and forth to each other. I finally decided to either sh*t or get off the pot and I decided to go for it. Luckily my gut told me to do a little forum searching on MR BS before the deal and see what comes up. By the way background searching is my standard practice but this time I delayed on the search because there was no commitment and I wasn't serious doing the deal until today. Well I ran into a post of someone who had sold the pistol in question to MR BS. I know this is the same pistol because MR BS was lazy and used the exact same pics that the "first" seller had used in his post. In that post the "first" seller posted a round count of x. MR BS owned and shot the pistol for about a month and then he emailed me a round count of x - 400. The number might not be a big deal for a pistol that already had 2500+ round count but I'm talking about the pistol having over double the rounds through than what I was told. In my thought-to-be final communication with him I informed him of my discovery and let him know that I no longer have any trust for him (and some other nice words of course).

The kicker is he actually had the nerve to send me back a message. Here it is:

    Patrick,
I’m sorry you feel I have misinformed you about my firearm. I can understand if you no longer want to trade. That is the same pistol that you attached from the thread. I have personally put 50 rounds through the gun. I have also added new mepro night sights to the gun as well. The slide looks great for the age of the firearm. Let me know if you change your mind. I will probably relist the H&K for sale soon.
    Sincerely,
    MR BS

What nerve of some people in this world. I think people like him really give the forum sellers a bad image. Again luckily I didn't go for it and I can only hope next time things will be better. Call me crazy for taking the risk but I think there are some good, honest people in this country and I can't live my life with what some people call an "aluminum foil hat" on. I guess I'll just have to keep going with my gut feeling. It's worked good so far.

    Steam is out.

I'm not trying to stand up for MR BS or anything. I really have no idea who you are talking about (and am not interested enough to research). Is there a chance that he was just being lazy and forgot the actual round count? I only ask because I don't know a firm round count on any of the guns I own, even the one that I bought brand new.

I can understand if he simply made a mistake. I don't believe he did nor did he make any mention of that being simply a mistake. When he was confronted about it there was no reasoning or excuse. I just got an answer like: "yea it happened, do you still want to deal?"

Also, if you don't know the exact (or approximate to the nearest 100) round count is the right answer to just make one up? I don't believe that it is unless it goes the other way like if I'm not sure about a pistol that in reality has around 1000 I'll put down something like 1500 or so. Going up is one thing that should be acceptable (and I've seen this a couple of times on the forums) but going down to half the true number is being sneaky and dishonest. To add to it he just picked it up a month ago. If he wanted to be honest with me he could have looked up the correct info on the thread he bought it from. That's how I found it and it wasn't that hard.

Maybe I just try to hold a higher standard for myself when it comes to this buying/selling stuff than some other people do. I want people to trust me and if I make a simple mistake I will apologize and do my best to make it right.

    ^^^ this ^^^

that's where this post belongs- stick to the facts, and don't get worked up about it.. I've had a deal fall through that I thought we had an agreement, and he was going to get upset that I was going to leave feedback- but I stuck with the facts, and after he read it, he said "yep, that's what happened"

2500 rounds + or -??? I guess that wouldn't bother me in the slightest if it was a quality gun. 2500 rounds through an HK is nothing.

How do you know the "round count" was accurate in the first place?

So y'all know this rant does not have anything to do with a deal on COAR15. Unfortunately for me the forum where my pistol was listed and where MR BS received my contact info from does not have a feedback section.

If it was somebody from here that did this I would not hesitate to write the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth to the feedback section so all you good, honest people here on this forum can make a better informed decision to deal or not deal with the person in question.

FWIW I doubt I'll ever have a problem doing deals with people here at this forum
