Warning: Rant Below--Stop reading if you don't want to hear me complaining
So I've been trying to trade a pistol over the net for the last couple weeks. Mind you I've had great luck so far with this in the past so I was trying to ride lady luck till she ran out. Well she almost ran out on me today. I got a offer from "MR BS" (that's what I'll call him) about a week ago and we've been emailing pics back and forth to each other. I finally decided to either sh*t or get off the pot and I decided to go for it. Luckily my gut told me to do a little forum searching on MR BS before the deal and see what comes up. By the way background searching is my standard practice but this time I delayed on the search because there was no commitment and I wasn't serious doing the deal until today. Well I ran into a post of someone who had sold the pistol in question to MR BS. I know this is the same pistol because MR BS was lazy and used the exact same pics that the "first" seller had used in his post. In that post the "first" seller posted a round count of x. MR BS owned and shot the pistol for about a month and then he emailed me a round count of x - 400. The number might not be a big deal for a pistol that already had 2500+ round count but I'm talking about the pistol having over double the rounds through than what I was told. In my thought-to-be final communication with him I informed him of my discovery and let him know that I no longer have any trust for him (and some other nice words of course).
The kicker is he actually had the nerve to send me back a message. Here it is:
Patrick,
I’m sorry you feel I have misinformed you about my firearm. I can understand if you no longer want to trade. That is the same pistol that you attached from the thread. I have personally put 50 rounds through the gun. I have also added new mepro night sights to the gun as well. The slide looks great for the age of the firearm. Let me know if you change your mind. I will probably relist the H&K for sale soon.
Sincerely,
MR BS
What nerve of some people in this world. I think people like him really give the forum sellers a bad image. Again luckily I didn't go for it and I can only hope next time things will be better. Call me crazy for taking the risk but I think there are some good, honest people in this country and I can't live my life with what some people call an "aluminum foil hat" on. I guess I'll just have to keep going with my gut feeling. It's worked good so far.
Steam is out.
