Yeah it was oil, went quite on for awhile, fortunately it wasn't from me lol.
I remember running my built out CJ and had a high pressure line break on the power steering pump. That was fun, I know I left fluid on the trial as I was doing my best to get off the trail. Cloth and lots of duct tape worked to get me home with the bottle of power steering fluid I always carry.

We need to hook up and plan some regularly scheduled day trips as we get towards the end of summer Hurley.

You sold that old XJ didnt you?

    I was looking at that.

I've got a few "wheeling war stories" myself, good campfire material.

I'm certainly down for some more wheeling, in fact I'm hoping to do a trip every weekend until summers end, and then do some snow wheeling this winter.

There are a few runs I want to do, but won't do them solo, not necessarily difficult trails, just further out than I want to be solo.

I did sell the Jeep, after being a heep loyalist for so long, finally went to the dark side.

Toys are good solid vehicles, the only down side is that damn front IFS. Riding in an IFS vehicle off road is definitely rougher I think than a solid front axle with the sway bars disconnected.

Not to mention a lot more parts that can break, and just a down right pain the ass to modify.

Now that my boys are a little older might be a little nicer to wheel every other weekend. Last major wheeling was 2010 at coney flats/middle st vrain and my oldest was almost 3, he was a pain in the butt. No more diapers, can eat regular food, yeah must easier. Have to plan accordingly, you off on Saturdays? What trails you thinking that far away?

Yeah IFS is one of the reasons I've stuck to Jeeps for all these years. At this point I'm in it more for the exploring and the scenery than anything, and this 4 door Tacoma gives me the utilitarian combination I want, while being capable of doing the types of trails I want to do.

The only suspension mods I plan on doing are to compensate for the added weight of a winch.

I would like to hit radical hill and red cone off of 285. Unfortunately I work Saturdays, I'm off Sunday/Monday.

    Nice rig!

The long term plan for the Taco is SAS, long term as in once it's paid off and I can buy another DD.

Likely just drop it off with Scott at Addicted off road, that's who I was talking to when I had my 86 4runner.

Red Cone is a great trail. Last time we were up there, the mountain goats were on top of the hill and we were able to get within just a couple feet of them. The kids loved seeing baby goats.

Very cool! That whole area is beautiful, I've done Hall valley (lower trail) several times, a couple at night even, but never red cone.
