The Wii supports streaming now, be warned Nintendo is talking about charging for their online access soon. Just like XBOX does
There is a proliferation of modern Blu-Ray and LCD big screen TV's that are internet enabled (via wireless in many cases) so you can stream Net Flix and others (MS launched a Zune alternative to NF not long ago).
The Catalogs are a bit shallow at times, but with how hard they are pushing this, there is little doubt in my mind that within 12-18 months they'll have no choice but to significantly expand the streaming options or see a business model with extreme potential fail. NF doesn't have a reputation for shirking away from innovation.
Once my current "Ah-Ha" offering from Comcast ends I'll be down grading them to zero movie channels, dropping this ghey arsed phone service and supplanting my Movie jonez with NetFlicks via wireless BluRay and XBox.
So it isn't the total replacement yet, but it beats the prices the Cable and Dish service providers are charging and you have the option to still have movies sent to you on top of the online streaming. Given that Denver is a shipping hub for NF, that turn around is typically 2 days. Yeah it ain't like going to the store, but it sure is nice. Not to mention if all else fails, there is still Redbox (which to my knowledge isn't doing Blu-Ray yet?).
Just my less than humble opinion again![]()
