I'm loading .223 on a Dillon 650. In the past, I've always used some bulk 55g Hornady bullets with a little boat tail. That boat tail allowed me to balance the bullet on the case under the seating die and it would stay on pretty well.

I was forced to switch to some Winchester bullets the other day and they have no boattail. As a result, it's nearly impossible to get the bullet to be stable on the case as the ram moves up into the die. I ended up holding the bullet until it was contained by the seating die, then I just let it flop and the die took over the centering of it.

Any problem with this approach? At first, I thought I was screwing up, but the more I thought about it the less concerned I am.

BTW, the ammo is for plinking and 3 gun comps with my AR, so ultimate accuracy is not essential.
