Upper build idea.

So, being 6'4" I'm a bit more comfortable behind a 16"+ rifle than an SBR styled gun. And I don't mind the weight of a extra pound or two in my AR.

Here's the idea I have in mind for my build when I get to CO. From what I understand, I need a certain buffer to allow me to use the collaspable stock with the full size upper. Which is that? And can anyone else reccomend any changes or specifics that would need to happen to make this build reliable?

I'll most likly start with a Bravo Company 18" SPR barreled upper.
KAC rifle length RAS or may a Daniel Defense 12" lite.
Pri folding front sight.
PRI Gas Buster charging handle.
AAC flash supressor or a Surefire MB556 brake.

The lower I already have together.
CMMG Lower
CMMG LPK
Magpul MOE grip
VLTOR EMOD stock
Unknown buffer tube and Endine hydraulic buffer that I'm borrowing from a friend. The endine will be getting swapped ASAP for whatever buffer I need to run a 18" barrel and rifle length gas system.

One of the new more interesting upper designs I'm seeing are these monolithic ones. Where the entire upper and foregrip are milled from the same block. You get a single continous rail on the top for mounting your optics. They're heavy though. Another popular option is a very lightweight tube stock with slots drilled out. Into those slots you can mount small rail blocks. This allows you to just put rails where you want them on the gun, and helps keep the weight down.

Part of it depends on what kind of gun is this? A short-medium urban combat gun, with no magnification? A long range hitter that'll be accurate out to 500 yards? Or a jack of all trades, or a hybrid of some sort? Are you going to carry it a lot, or just for range time?

More along the lines of a jack of all trades. It won't be so long that it can't be used indoor as a bedside gun, but it will still be long enough to get as much velocity out of the .223/5.56 rounds used in it to make it effective out to the longer ranges.

I may end up carrying it a bit, but more for range use and plate pinging.

The EOTech is mostly likly what i'll put on it first. That is if I can't get some more info on the new $300ish 1-4x and 1-6x scopes that are coming into the market. If they are good in quality I'd have no problem using one instead to make greater use of the 18" barrels accuracy.

I'm still open to tossing a 16" barrel on it as long as it can maintain a 1MOA grouping. I think something like a Recce styled upper might work, I'm just not sure if I want to go that short.
