Been in way to many wrecks caused by other people... walked away from all of them bruised and bloody but the seat belt probably saved me a few times.

It's a weird feeling to stagger out of a car facing the opposite direction you were just driving with your face covered in blood. But with a seatbelt on at least you might get out alive.

They get into a wreck and (how they filmed this I have no idea!) he starts flying around the inside of the car smashing into people and stuff. So, in the same way you could drive drink and never hurt another soul, not doing that / using your seat belt is not at all an unreasonable precaution to take.

It's not just a TV possibility either; ex-wife had been hurt in a wreck when her unbelted passenger came flying into her, too.

I read everyone's post and was disappointed to see that the 'guy' who always says, "I know someone who was in a car accident and the seatbelt killed them..." didn't post anything

a old friend of mine had a similar story, he got in a wreck and says if he had been wearing a seatbelt it would have killed him, now he never wears one.

I told him he was a damn idiot.

the sussex ad is genius. the music really makes it.

    here's another one that's good.

seat belt talk reminds me of another video I saw. apparently an old guy kept getting pulled over for not wearing his seat belt. he felt it was his right to not wear a seatbelt, so in the dashcam video he hops out of the car with a rifle and shoots the officer.

I knew a guy in HS twenty-seven years ago who was actually probably saved by NOT wearing a seatbelt - for that 1 instance. Since that time my brother will not wear a seatbelt - unless he's in my vehicle (then we have a context of wills until he see's I won't budge - literally, until he's wearing teh belt.

In the last 30 years I've known 1 guy who was prosaved by not wearing a seatbelt. In that same period I've known hundreds of people who were saved by wearing the seatbelt. Given those averages, I think I'll take my chances WITH the belt ON!

Now, the guy who shot the cop - dumba$$

My grandpa used to swear that not wearing his seat belt saved his life when he rolled a car. He got ejected and the car didn't roll on him, but he would have probably died if he didn't... I think it there was just as much chance that that car could have rolled on him or the ejection could have killed him.

    put the belt on.

I also like people who try and convince me to buy a car WITHOUT air bags, because there is always the chance that the airbag will fail. They always make it clear how you shouldn't rely on the "fail bag." I recently got into an argument with some dude on another board, and he just automatically assumed that because I didn't hate airbags, that I was suggesting not wearing a seat belt or something. He kept saying stuff like, "When get into an accident, the seat belt LOCKS UP and holds you in place! Keep hoping your fail bag will work." I didn't bother to explain to him that just because I'd rather have a car with an airbag, doesn't mean that I don't also wear my seat belt.

Another idiot on that board commented on how he'd like to remove his air bag because he's been in an accident with an air bag and, "...air bags hurt! lol"

I just had to ignore the thread because the stupid was too strong.

I can take or leave airbags, it doesn't matter to me. In all of my wrecks I've never had an airbag in my vehicles and I walked away, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have them. I took them out of my mustang, but that was for weight savings.
