Default Anyone Ever Heard Of A Caracal Handgun?

So, I was reading some literature in the (er) library [That translates to Men's Room in case you didn't catch that] at work today and I came across a brand of handguns I'd never heard of before; the Caracal.

The company is out of the UAE. They have a few models, but the "SC" is the model being written about. The SC was designed as an ultra-lightweight conceal carry gun, specifically for military and LEOs.

Here's a site on this weapon I found since getting home:
    http://www.caracal.ae/web/products.asp?caracal-sc/425

Does anyone know anything about these? Are they available for an average citizen in the U.S. to buy? If so, anyone know how much they cost?

From what I read about these, I was fairly impressed and thought that it would make for a great CCW gun.

So, since you are my best resource for unique firearm knowledge, I turn to you for answers.

You can tell that it isn't USA made as soon as you see the factory shoulder stock and front vertical grip on their accessories page. Neat!

I checked gunbroker and couldn't find anything.

And here is a youtube video about it (with no shortage of people calling Americans terrorists)

The animal it is named after looks a lot like a Lynx.

Well, I was going to say that it looked like a cross between an EAA product and something from Steyr and then I found that the guy who headed the design team was the guy who designed the Steyr M. That explains a lot!
From what I read, they should start becoming available next year. Also, Wikipedia has quite a bit on them at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caracal_pistol

Wilhelm Bubits designed both the Caracal and the Steyr M/S pistols (my EDC is an S40).

Not sure what you mean by an "EAA product" since EAA doesn't actually make anything, but Rumor has it EAA is going to be the importer for the Caracal, but who knows with these things.

Anyway, if they come to the states I'll have to check them out ... I still contend that if Wilhelm Bubits had a pair of custom gloves made that they would fit me just as well.

    Hi y'all!

Waffen Werks in TN (previously HS 2000 importer) now imports the Caracal pistol.

Some beautiful pictures in the latest brochure.
