Default Mid/rifle length handguards on carbine, pics?

I have a car length barrel now with a full float handguard that is very nice and fits nice right up to my low pro gas block. But I really like the looks of the mid or even rifle length hand guards, anybody have the rifle length on a carbine? I will be getting a mid length barrel when money is available anyways so it would still work. Seems like it would help with shooting off sticks anyways to get the sticks out farther on the barrel for more stability?

I had to run up and take a picture, I just added this MI 15inch tube (Bowers did the work, I just paid the bill).

I just shot it today and liked the way it feels. Still need to add a hook for my MS2 sling up front but overall Iam happy with it. I can still get rifle length sight radius on a carbine if I want.

Cool, thats nice! I want a smooth one, no rails but I like it. Mine is the 6.8 spc and will mainly be used for hunting, but I would put a bi-pod mount on it. I would like to make the trip down to pueblo and shoot that prairie dog match one of these days.

I do have a couple questions though. I have never noticed these issues before but maybe I havent looked?

When I lock the bolt back without a mag in it, then tilt the rifle to either side the bolt slams shut? Fix?

Also if you "ease" the bolt forward it wont lock up unless you hit the assist, if you let it slam it is fine, which under normal shooting conditions wouldnt be an issue but for clean/lube/inspect it bugs me. I have a scope that is to long for the rifle so I have to reach for the charging handle, but when I lube it I like to manual molest the bolt a few times to get the lube evenly spread I do need a cantilever mount I do believe!
