Yes, I really thought I wanted a 38super, got this one for a smokin price because it is so ugly. Gonna get it dura-coated and change the grips.

I remember your secretive post a while ago when you first got it. I'm trying to picture a color that could replace the gold, and would still look okay with keeping everything polished. Maybe blue or a red or something. Would look a lot better just getting rid of the swirl marks and that baby poop colored grip.

My plan is where it is gold, make it black, and the 'chrome' to od green. That way it would go with my Desert Warrior. I have another pair of the 'tactical' Punisher grips for it.

I never shot a 38 super.
How does it compare to a 45?
I wanted to get a 1911 for the wife but she feels 45 is a little too much for her...
By the way, what did you pay for it?

I traded a couple Mosin Nagants for it, but you can get them all day long for $550 and less. I haven't shot this one yet, and it has been 30 years since I shot Dad's old Colt 38 super, maybe someone else can tell you how it compares.

Depending on the load 38 super in a full size 1911 can be a pussycat. For the informal 3 gun I use 124gr lazer cast on top of 9gr of AA7. Follow up shots vs my 45 1911 are very quick.
