Good thing things didn't escalate. I tend to just go on about my own these days as I prefer to be left alone and I know how fast things can go to the next level over petty shit.

yeah I never tend to say anything either myself as I wouldn't want it to escalate. I know a few words from a random person are not going to change them, their way or thinking, or make them believe anything I have to say. I have no problem giving people the bird though while staring right at them. no words, just a simple finger and move on.
that usually gets people pissed, makes them wonder why they were flipped off and ruins their day![]()
This is a free country from government prevention of free speech, as it should be, but there is no reason that people can not verbalize their distaste with each other from civilian to civilian. Social pressure is much more effective than any law ever could be.

I've got a dear friend (and co-worker) who had to surrender her CCW permit this Spring and is going to court soon over multiple felony counts for something that didn't happen at all like the case against her implies - all at a gas station. The "victim" at the time was the husband of a supposedly) off-duty female officer - afterwards, in the police report, it was the father of this woman (the father was never seen at the scene by the suspect (my friend). The whole deal is fishy but my friend is facing some serious stuff (10+ years in prison) because the official victim" is an "at risk adult".
Things can excalate very quickly - even AFTER you've left the story can change enough to get you landed in jail.
