David is a good guy, and he isn't abusing the system.
There are way more people looking for work than jobs available.
I am sick of being told that I'm "over qualified". I was released for work again last October and haven't found shit. Unless I want to drive 60+ miles one way for $10 an hour for a 40 hour/week job, sorry, but that wont pay for gas.
Unenployment pays crap, so the thought that people can abuse the system and survive boggles my mind.
I didn't file for unemployment untill this April, figured I'd find a job. My payments from unemployment fall $750 a month short of just my house and car payment, forget food and utilities.
The only reason my family isn't living in a box under a bridge somewhere is I get an odd job here and there that manages to just keep us above water.

Thanks for the kind words Rob. I haven't spent money on any luxury like TV's, new clothes or cars. I did bring my mustang out of retirement just to save on gas. But the engine went bad and I has to change it. (I had one laying around for this very purpose) I don't have all the parts I need or the money to buy them so now I'm driving my bike. The first gear is out too. I'm squeaking by just barely. If the gov. wants to help I'm to the point where I will let them. I'm still trying to get a real job and be independent again.

I'm going to ITT in Thornton and I hope that with the right grades I can go into a better job that pays $20 an hour. It could happen with the right education.

I will be eating on Food Stamps and WIC on Tax Dollars.
and drawing welfare on Tax Dollars.

    Depression.
about 30% of you that now HAVE jobs would lose them.

Lets remember how we got into this shit. People quit spending money because Mortgages went nuts.
    People got laid off.
    More people quit spending money.
    property values plummeted.
more people got laid off, etc

I know its a tad more complicated than that, but as far as it pertains to the argument at hand, close enough.

350 a week is hardly enough to be running out buying bigscreens
I just want to clearify this. As I said on previous post, I was linking Consumer confidence with LCD TV, not unemployment receipient.

One of my family member is on tier3 right now.

For a long @ss time, I didn't have a job either. I also worked at a low wage job at retailers after benefit lapsed. This was before the extension.

I applied and applied. Out of 100 resumes, I get 3-4 serious offers. I got so tired of sending customized resume, I start sending out generic resumes.

What made me unhappy was, I make it to 3rd interviews and not even get a phone call afterward. I drove 25miles 1 way 3 times (total of 6x25miles) just to get rejected. It truly SUCKS. I later found out this company and I had a different idea of business.
Now they trade $1.10/sr at NASDAQ, and about to get delisted.

My unemployment was lapsing, and I had to find a job. That is when I applied at Dick's Sporting Goods at Flatiron. $9.54/hr...

Making long story short, I work somewhere else. I work grave yard shift, and work 38-40hr/week. I make significantly less than what I use to.
Although I do have a job, I am still looking. I will be extremely happy (and dance on the floor) if I find a job that pays me 70% of what I use to get paid.

I know how you feel...I was barely hanging on. Landed a job last week. Even after getting paid today, Im still going to be overdrawn tomorrow before I can buy gas.

I was honestly about to try to join up to with the military when I landed this job.

I hope I don't become homeless. I hope my luck changes. I guess this is what it takes to keep people like me from bitching about gov. It won't end well for them in Nov. record numbers of homeless are going to be out voting. I need some good luck. The only thing that make me smile in weeks is a friend told me she could get me a old laptop for school. She swears the battery is good and it made me happy to hear. But then I learn that the Federal Gov will be taking over my student loans. Now they own the colleges and the money side. Oh well I'm going to get ahead one day and save like Warren Buffet.

You guys confirm my fears that your already just getting by and if the extension is not passed and we start to let people come off the benfits, we could easily see a large surge in the following 12 months of people becoming homeless and/or mega poor which I believe may increase the crime rate for theft and robbery as people have no other way to survive.

I did work at a retail store for a while. I was getting 20 hours to start and all of a sudden after the holidays it got cut down to 10 hours. I had to go back to Unemployment and its been slow from then until now.
I know this can happen to anyone. I've seen it happen.
