Thanks. I seen on TV where they have jobs they compared Unemployment Insurance to welfare or stimulation for the economy Falsely. Its more like throwing people that were working and got fired because their employer couldn't pay them anymore a life saver. Its not welfare or SSI. I would rather work for what I got and I would make more money if I working anyway.

A word of caution. ITT is Nationally accredited. The one that counts is regionally accredited - so your credits won't transfer or count toward any continuing education.

For the cost of an ITT AS, you could get almost a full 4 year BS at a state school - or at least the same number of credits at a community college in Comp Sci classes.

Luckily, I got caught up in the hiring boom before Y2K and got my student loan paid off. Then again, I had a job before going in - today I'd guess their placement rate is very, very low for jobs that would pay over $12/hour.

Be sure you are looking for a job in the field before you get out, as that note will come due sooner than you think.

" I am sorry sir, but we are looking for someone that can speak Spanish."

Seriously, I was told this at an Interview.

I am a Systems/Network and Firewall administrator and an Information security technician.
I know Construction, Plumbing, Tile (Stone, Ceramic, Porcelain) and Drive almost anything with varying degrees of proficiency.

I can do Vehicle recovery and I'm pretty sure I can still operate an M88 if required

i have been searching for almost a year and cant count the times i have heard this.

spent 6 years on a forklift in a lumberyard for a fence supply company, was let go 4 months after my first kid was born. went from $17 an hour to spending my days kissing ass trying to get part time work for half that just so i can feed my family, only to be shot down time and time again for being "over qualified" or non Spanish speaking.

have had a few interviews lately and they seem to be more interested in why i don't have a new job after almost a year than they are with my qualifications. i am not really sure how to respond when they ask why, i have been grinding pretty much nonstop since last July, hours a day and am averaging around 25 new applications a week that go unanswered.

about the only thing i have going for me at the moment is that most of my shit is paid off, have 3 more payments on my truck, and when that's done all i have are utilities, food and rent.

    Thumbs up on extension.

We need to get the consumer confidence up. That is dragging our economy, wall st, and possible future hiring.

One argument against my statement is people who are on Unemployment will mainly pay for necessities , basic bills , and rent/mortgage. However, it is funny to see tons of people buying 55" LCD TV at WMT/BBY/COST.

Killing Unemployment insurance because of a few fucktards abusing the System is like banning guns because of a few fucktards abusing the system.

Let's not cut off our noses to spite our face. Stopping unemployment isn't going to hurt those people. It will hurt the families that do not have other incomes, the ones that will need the money to buy gas to get to interviews.

I am really up in the air on ths unemployment extension.
I know some of you are not welfare want'a'bes and would work if you could get a job, I feel for you and dont wnat you to loose your homes.

We cant afford to keep this up and I feel it creates more permenant welfare people in the end if its keep up to long.
I think its 2 years now that some people have had a free ride, and this is borrowed money we dont have. If they can cut some pork or use the unspent bailout money for this then that would help me be ok with the extensions.

So when do we stop the extensions? Do we keep it up for 3 more years or 5 or just another 6 months?

I should've used the new paragraph. My bad for confusion.
I was thinking that can boost consumer confidence.
Unemployment recepients tend to buy necessities and pay bills. I am not too sure Unemployment recepients can boost our consumer confidence per dollar bases relative to others.

I do see some non-unemployment receipients (hard working people) purchasing luxury goods at electronic stores ever. Maybe because TV might be close to durable goods, and avg consumer just want to upgrade their goods.

I favor extension, because there are tons of people who really really need the $ to pay rent and food on the table with that unemployment benefit.
Hopefully unemployment benefit ext can boost our consumer confidence as well. We really need to boost that up to get the economy going.

well I can tell you one thing for sure.
as it stands now I am paying rent, Medical insurance and groceries with the funds I receive that were payed in by myself and my employers over the last 27 years of my working career. Yes this is my first time on unemployment ever.
Now, Should that come to a halt I will be living in Government assisted housing on Tax Dollars.
I will be eating on Food Stamps and WIC on Tax Dollars.
and drawing welfare on Tax Dollars.

Not to mention that then the few items that I Do purchase with currency that I can spare will not be purchased, couple that with the millions of other people that would be cut off and POW... Consumer spending is down further.
    Depression.
about 30% of you that now HAVE jobs would lose them.

Lets remember how we got into this shit. People quit spending money because Mortgages went nuts.
    People got laid off.
    More people quit spending money.
    property values plummeted.
more people got laid off, etc

I know its a tad more complicated than that, but as far as it pertains to the argument at hand, close enough.

350 a week is hardly enough to be running out buying bigscreens
