All,
Below are a couple of links. The first link is to a YouTube video preview of a National Geographic movie that has just been released. The next link is to the official site for this movie. On the official movie page there is another preview. Some parts are the same as the YouTube videol.
The movie is called Restrepo (rest-rep-o). It follows one platoon for one year in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan. The Korengal Valley is considered the most deadly place in the world.
While there is nothing specifically graphic about the videos, there are very emotionally moving.
Based on the previews alone, I rate this movie as an absolute Must Watch!

While I don't take anything away from the experiences of those who served in Vietnam, we need to realize that our current involvement in Afghanistan isn't all surgical strikes from remote controlled airplanes. So much of what we see and hear in the news would have us believe that the only thing killing our troops is IED's. This movie will show you differently. We have troops actively facing the horrors of real combat each and every day.
I'm not trying to push any sort of political message or even preach about how war is bad, of course it is but it is also often quite necessary. What I'm hoping to share with you is an appreciation for our Airmen, Soldiers, Marines, and Sailors.
Please, at least watch the previews for this movie and consider seeing the whole thing. If you are moved by the previews as I was, share this message with others.
But I also ask that you never miss an opportunity to say THANK YOU - even offering a handshake or a hug to every member of the U.S. military that you might encounter.
