I'm thinking about purchasing a Savage rifle in .308 or .30-06 for camping purposes. I've heard they are really accurate rifles with good reliability that can take down deer and black bears! I've also heard they are horribly inaccurate muskets that break easily and wouldn't take down anything larger than a deer. What is the general consensus on these rifles? And which type of ammo is more common, .308? Or .30-06? Alright, time to let the wise men confer.
