Default What I need to know...

Ok, I've read the FAQ and the New Shooters section on the website and I just want to make absolutly sure I do what I'm supposed to do for my first match.
Show up at 7:00 to setup and attend a new shooters meeting at 7:30
    Pay $15.00 to shoot.
    Hit at least one target

I need to bring food/water and a chair. 200 rounds of ammo and a couple of spare mags.

I'm so excited to finally get to go to a match that I'm hoping I remember to bring my gun!!

Thanks for any feedback and I look forward to meeting everyone on Saturday.

Good to see you actually took the time to read the FAQ post.

What match are you going to Saturday? The Front Range IDPA Idaho Springs/Dumont match was last weekend.

I was talking about the Clear Creek match on the 14th of August.
Guess I should have put that in the orginal post... oops.

If you can, read the rule book prior to the match. It will help you understand things a little better, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Hope to see you out there.

When you draw your gun, point it down range. Not down, and not up, down range.

Any and all questions you have will be answered in the new shooters meeting.

If you read the FAQ, and the rule book, you have a leg up on the rest of the first timers.

Come up and have a good time.

    Technical Reminders

Know the 4 Rules of Gun Safety before you show up.

When you're up, wait for the commands before doing stuff (all will be revealed at new shooters meeting and by watching).

Muzzle management, muzzle management and muzzle management (with muzzle downrange, just about all else can be forgiven).

General Reminders, Tips & Philosophical Commentary

Bring work gloves for handling lumber that's all splintered n stuff.

Remember sunscreen & water--it's a long time in the sun at 7,900 ft.

Eighty percent of success is showing up.

You will almost certainly have fun and be glad you showed up.

Breathe, relax & enjoy--most likely at least half the shooters there will also be new.
