    Huh, never thought of that. Pretty slick. I suspect you want the top facing out to make it easier to index the gas tube hole?

    I have thought about that, maybe wrapping it in tape, but I am kinda sckerred!

    Put some small scraps of wood between the receiver and the vise. That will protect the finish and the wood will absorb the pressure so you dont deform the receiver.
