Default Hate Rant: Defecating in Sales threads

What the hell is wrong with some of you? I have seen more people defecate into "for sale" threads lately than ever before in my short time on this site. You think something is priced inappropriately? Fine, send the person a PM about it. Hell, I've done this. I was trying to help the guy out, but damn, I didn't crap all over his sales thread.

Second, if someone has underpriced an item, send them a PM. Don't post it in the damn thread. Not only does this piss off potential buyers, it makes the person selling the item look like (and probably feel) ignorant as hell.

Third, if you don't want to do a bill of sale and the seller does then don't buy it. Seriously, what kind of narcisistic bullshit is this... You are the purchaser. Your place isn't to dictate the terms of sale. Either accept them, ask about them IN A PM, or keep your Fn fingers off the keyboard. Consider your lack of purchase invoking your power of selection through consumption, or whatever it takes to make you feel better about it. Just don't bitch about it in the thread.

The P in PM stands for private. Get it?

there have been a few threads in where I wasn't interested in the item but wanted to make a snarky comment about something.... I just keep my mouth shut.

the trouble it could cause is just not worth any laughs I might get.

some people can take a joke, others go from zero to frothing insane especially when money is involved.

I agree. The sales thread isn't about calling someone out over something you may not like or agree with. Their item, their ad. If they insist on something you don't agree with, or you'd like to ask about or point something out, the PM is the proper venue for that (Or, as SA Friday said, simply ignore that item). I've had mostly positive experiences with other forum members regarding the sales thread, and I've always thought that was one of the best things about this site is that it isn't conducted like ARFCOM, that a lot of us actually know each other and self-police this site. Even when some of us disagree on some things, we keep it civil (usually!) and while I may disagree with someone's opinion, I respect their right to it. But NOT in the sales thread!

It's against the rules here. Report it to a moderator and they'll take care of it. They (the mods) are busy people with lives, so don't expect them to read every post on every ad looking for bad behavior.

I agree with this. The main comments that should be there are PM sent or Where are the pictures?. The general discussion is a good place to post comments, with links, about weird, over or under priced sales. I'd really like to know about delusional sales. They can be entertaining.

Tim K also pointed out that the moderators should be notified. This is a fast moving board so they will be behind.

People can be misinformed about what kind of gun they have or the values or how to rate it. PM's can help them correct this. I think most everybody here is honest, strange but honest.

Hooray for our weekly rant about the for sale section!

OK, I'm better now. I'm primarily scandinavian, and we have a tendency to burn fast and flame out. It was Jer's for sale thread (after a couple of other's that I've seen over the last week or two) that pushed me over the edge. He flat out got wronged, overtly and multiple times in the same 'for sale' thread. Really pissed me off as you can see.

Recently had this issue. Rather than shit on my own thread, I took my issue with the poster to PM, then had the Mods remove the offending post.

Some folks don't get it and because we are easy going about the rules, don't feel they have to abide by them for some reason.

Some of the responsibility is in the hands of the Seller. Just asking the mods to remove the post(s) general clears up the ass-hatery. I'm sure if that happens enough, corrective action will follow.

    HIJACK WARNING!

And if we're going to bitch about things... WTF is up with people having to post all of their items separately? Just cluttering up the damn sales areas, bumping other posts down 2 and 3 pages just because you feel some silly need to not consolidate. Now that shits annoying.

Is this because I asked questions about a style of shotgun I'd never heard about before ?

Probably not. Other people were comparing price on the extended tube mag and one guy was comparing a completely different gun.
