Is this an appropriate thread to ask how realistic it would be to write up a bill, or amendment, or something that mandates that any crime committed by any elected official, WHILE IN OFFICE, carries a 1 year mandatory jail sentence? The minimum threshold would be set very low, like Class 1 or 2 misdemeanor. It wouldn't be cruel and unusual punishment because you would know ahead of time about the added risk of being an elected official. Don't like the potential risk, then don't take the job. Pretty much something stating that if you are an elected official, all sentences are far more strict, instead of the opposite that it is now.
Seems like your group of people could be the right kind of group to write and push something like that onto a ballot. I don't want to derail the thread, so if it goes that way, I'll have Marlin edit it up, or split it up into it's own discussion. Just thought you might know about how realistic that idea would be.
