Pronunciation of other countries
Some coworker was talking about how he's going to Mexico on vacation. Good for him.
During the conversation he kept saying "May-he-co" like Mexicans folks say it. It kinda annoyed me so I asked him why he said it that way. He said he was being respectful and just saying like it should be said.
I then asked him why Mexicans say "Estados Unidos" instead of "United States". Deer in the headlights.
Same goes for so many countries. Just bugs me when Americans think they need to, I don't know, conform to another language. Are they trying to impress someone?
Qatar is another one that bugs me. I thought it was "kah-tar" most of my life. Now I hear "gudder".
I guess I'm a Neanderthal.
