I was happy to see Maes and Buck win, since I voted for them. The establishment Republicans McGinnis and Norton lost, maybe the Republican Party is taking a right turn.

I was suprised that Romanoff did not win, Bennett is a POS and I can't believe any Democrats voted for him.

I think it's great that Bennett won because he'll be easier to beat.

Buck is much better on 2A. I've talked with him several times when the race was starting and he called looking for support (and money). For the record, I haven't donated yet. I think Jane Norton is John McCain in high heels. As Lt. Governor, she and her RINO buddy Bill Owens pushed hard for the 3A & 3C ballot issues that ratcheted up our tax rates. They also pushed Amendment 21 that requires BG checks at gun shows and were instrumental in reinstating the CBI as the POC for Brady background checks - the reason our checks still take so long compared to FBI NICS that other states are using.

I think if Buck nationalizes the election and focuses on all the debt the Dems are piling on our children, he'll win big.

I like the general direction but I'm afraid it might be just a little TOO right for Colorado, we really aren't red anymore, more of a green now. Besides, as discussed at length, I really don't think Maes has a chance if Tancredo doesn't drop out.

I was surprised at this too. I thought for sure Romanoff would get it, but Bennet did play his normal dem attack dog and put a bunch of false accusations about Romanoff wanting to cut social security, so he ended up losing the elderly vote.

You have to remember that Owens did a lot that was "lesser of two evils" because he had to deal with an overwhelming left congress. It's not that he was pushing these bills so much as if he didn't pass these then congress would have passed worse, I've heard him comment on that quite a bit. The same thing with the smoking ban, he didn't want it but if he didn't sign what he had into law then tougher restrictions would have gotten passed without him.

I think it's going to be a very tight race. Even though I didn't like Norton, I think SHE had a better chance against Bennett. Buck has an uphill battle against Bennett and Bennett has a lot more money to throw around, and is backed by the Obama machine - which is no laughing matter.

Look at the record of candidates that are backed by the Obama machine.. it's a double-edged sword.. it could turn against him

The Gov. race is the worst- right now we've got a pissing contest between Tancredo & Maes- hopefully one will blink before it's too late, or it'll probably go to Hickenlooper.

I expect Hickenlooper to play up the scandal & Mae's inexperience- and playing Tancredo & Maes against each other...

I think that the Colorado GOP has shown it's true identiy of being the second head on the "progressive"/"liberal"/"Good ole boy" snake.

Maes is at best inept. Glad I didn't vote for him in the primary.

With all the stench of Maes financial dealings and inability to provide answers to even basic ethical questions, yet the Colorado GOP still supports a candidate that will ensure the victory of Hickenlooper, I fail to see any difference between the DNC and RNC in Colorado.

It may very soon be time to leave Colorado and head home to MT or AK.

Never again will this GOP party get ANY money from me.

According to the Rasmussen reports (take them for what they are worth), Tancredo has pulled ahead of Maes. Time for Maes to just pull out and let this race become a little closer. Maes WILL NOT beat Hick, Tancredo on the other hand, would at least make the race closer.

That defies logic. A veto override is very difficult and making a bill even more radical strips away votes you need to for the override. As somebody who communicated frequently with the "shall issue" bill backers in the Colorado legislature (White and Chlouber), I can tell you categorically that Owens would NOT sign a bill that didn't include a ban on concealed carry on school property. He made that abundantly clear to us. His office rebuffed attempts to use more constitutionally appropriate language. For instance, he nixed a compromise that provided for enhanced felony penalties for carry of any sort on school property for the purpose of committing a crime. The R's controlled both houses at the time and I was told they had the votes to pass it without the school language. However they didn't have enough to override their own chief executive's veto. At the time, Owens had an eye on the Senate and needed to run on a strong education platform. Allowing carry in schools wasn't part of that vision. We've had two high profile school shootings in Colorado since this RINO disarmed the willing.

The money part is turning out to be true. Buck's campaign chief told me in an email that they are not going to respond in kind with TV ads and are instead relying on phone volunteers to get the truth out. That's wasted effort, IMO since no one wants to be called during dinner to get Buck's recorded response and then get hit up for donations. Rosen thinks Buck will start hitting back when the mail ballots go out. By then, he could be running a comeback operation since Bennett's had the megaphone all to himself for the last month. Rasmussen shows Bennett cutting into Buck's lead significantly because he's defining him with the negative ads.

On the silver lining side of things, Jim DeMint is running a PAC for conservative Tea Party type candidates and Buck's getting a big chunk of that (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...350216628.html). Still, Bennett has a 3 to 1 money advantage unless Buck can attract more individual donations. Rest assured that the corporate whores at GE and it's ilk aren't going to support someone who's really fiscally conservative. The Trent Lott K Street lobbyist types don't want the punchbowl to be taken away.

I pretty much agree with your entire post.

If Norton and McGinnis had won, I would not of voted for them. I can't in good conscience vote for the lesser evil. But Maes and Buck will get my support. I'll even put their yard signs in my yard. Anyone have some extras?

What pisses me off is an article I read in the comPost that alluded to how the Repub. party is not (yet) getting behind Maes. That's BS! Talk about undermining your own efforts. WTH is up with that? Will they see the light?

A lot of Dims all over the country are distancing themselves from Obummer.

Totally, people who don't like Obama will rally behind Buck, but I still think it's going to be a tough fight to the end.

Personally, I'm happy with the outcome and of course throw my support behind the entire party. I'll volunteer, put out signs, bumper stickers, whatever it takes to get our representation back.
