Changing party affiliation......Why?

Everyone, I am just as disgusted with the GOP as anyone but I don't understand the rationale of changing party affiliation. IMO All this action does is remove you from the GOP voting pool in Primary elections or you will no longer be able to vote for the candidates that the GOP gives us to vote on. Is there something I am missing here? What does going Independent do for us in the gun culture, I like the voting in the Primaries but this year I did not vote for a governor to let the GOP know how disgusted I am with the GOP (and it seems I was not the only one I believe KHOW reported more then 30,000 republican voters left the governor race open on ballots), as it seems that the GOP (Dick Wadham) has grown tired of my emails. We are in a two party system and will be for a long time but until we get new leadership in the GOP I fear we in Colorado will have poor Republican candidates for awhile, but I am not going independent.

Join a party, vote in the primaries, get a bigger say in what happens.

For instance, take McGinnis and Norton...please - ba dum dum

McGinnis and Norton were the establishment candidates with money and McCain and the GOP behind them. THEY LOST because people like me do not like the establishment. The big money in the Colorado GOP LOST!! Haha moneybags - We beat you and your little dogs too, fuckin' assholes.

But I digress. I would encourage people to join a party only because it gives a person more opportunities to vote and make themselves heard. You don't have to vote your party affiliation, it is your vote, you do what you think is best.

I'm an independent as many of my beliefs cross both parties stances (gee, wonder why I always seem in debates on here [pause for effect]).

I have more in common with the Republican party so remain registered in an effort to put my vote towards those races that count. The state gov race this election is one such instance. Now if we could just figure out how to get rid of Maes or the gate crasher, we might acutally get somewhere... As it stands, we are severly screwed.

I wish the Colorado GOP had stuck with Penry or Tancredo before they decided it was McGinnis' turn. We wouldn't be in this mess now.

Look at illegal immigration for example, its only become an 'issue' for the Republican party since they lost control to the Dems. When the Republicans were in power and could do something about it, years ago, what did they do? Nothing. The more things change the more they stay the same.

That's why I'm an independent and will always be an independent.

I do understand the mindset of an independent voter, but IMHO it is a good idea to register with the major party that most closely represents your views. That registration does give power to the party. It doesn't mean you have to vote that way, but being registered that way helps at least part of your cause - whatever that may be.

"We" aren't happy with either party, bitch, moan and rail against the heavens for a viable 3rd party, but because there can never be a viable third party.. because people won't take the risk... "we" just continue to stay on the roles of the party(s) we detest.

I went independent after Clinton got elected. I will not support either of the major parties monetarily or with my time or efforts in any fashion. Government needs an enema and just defaulting to one or the other makes you part of the issue. Acquiescence is all this is. The more we simply give lip service to the evils of the 2 parties we have, the less progress we make towards rectifying the problem.
