2 years ago we were working on the runways at that little airport on the north west end of the metro area, can't remember it's name. Anyways, over the noise of the equipment I heard something very cool, looked up ant it was a B-17!!! VERY low level flyby, I'd say less than 20', he made a tight turn and landed on the runway right next to us. Awesome!
That same summer we had a crew at Ft. Carson, making the hot re-fuel pads, I was still at the airport who's name escapes me, my nextel beeped, one of the guys down at Carson just watched 2 V-22 Ospreys hot fuel, he was pretty impressed. A few minutes later they landed next to our equipment, dropped of a couple people then took off and headded north.
Centennial airport is where the MiG-15 lives, I met the guy who owns it, says he is working on a F-86 Sabre. Must be nice to have that kind of cash.

I've seen two flights of two Osprey's over Pueblo West... we're just south of Carson's maneuver range; Blackhawk, Chinook, and Apache are pretty common around here.

I will be bringing one of our Hurks to the JeffCo Airshow at the end of the month. At least right now I am on the schedule to be on it. Not sure though. Good deals like that normally go to management types.

Another reason you might be seeing more old warbirds flying around is the Reno Air Races are coming baby. Cant wait.

There's a wealthy lawyer that owns a gorgeous P-51 Mustang and a Hawker Sea Fury, both are hangared at Centennial airport. The P-51 is in warbird colors, but the Sea Fury is civilian painted. It has a big radial engine and it's very fast, and the wing is shaped just like a P-47's, so it's easy to mistake it for a P-47. I thought that's what it was for years, it flys over Parker frequently, until I found out the facts.

I'm really looking forward to going to see Fifi, the B-29. Ain't gonna ride in it though. This is supposed to be it's first airshow since a major rebuild and all new engines. Only one left flying in the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLFKAWGSPCs

Don't know where he hangars it, but a Doctor (was Chief Anesthesiologist at Children's last I heard) who used to be our Medical Squadron commander owns a P-51 that wears the name "Stang Evil" around here; it was one of the P-51's assigned to the 140th here in Denver back in the day. He also has a British Gnat, and last I heard he's got an Me-109 that was brought out of Russia needing restoration.

P-51 used to be my all time fave airplane...I think the P-38 has overtaken it, though...

Well folks, if you have not already heard... ENOLA GAY...yes the B29 that nuked Hiroshima, is coming our way sometime this month, up in Longmont. May have changed since I first got word this spring. There are 3 B29s that are "potentially" flyable right now: FIFI/DOC/ENOLA GAY. Doc was rebuilt by Boeing in Kansas and FIFI has of course been flying for years with the CAF. ENOLA GAY was supposed to make a "one-way" flight to CA this summer with many stops and be trucked back to the Smithsonian. It has been under a "secret" rebuild while on the floor of the museum for the past 10 years.
