    Default Guanella Pass

First time since my unemployment fiasco began I finally took a weekend to go camping and shooting. First time up at Guanella and I was amazed by how much shooting goes on up there. I had stockpiled .22 ammo for quite awhile so I took the S&W MP15-22 and Ruger 22/45 pistol. The S&W was awesome and the Ruger was great (actually my son's and the first time I shot it). I was just curious about how many guys on here ever go up there ? The folks I were with said it's usually not this crowded but I figure it's still a vacation month and with school starting soon that's probably why the crowd.

Guanella is awesome. I go up there often. of course it's my back yard as well. The mining town is awsome too. about 6 miles up from duck creek campgrounds.

    Default .

It was packed this weekend fo sure, I was up Friday night and damn...tons of cars, horses and people.

I and two friends biked the ~12 miles from the summit down to the trail head just south of Deek Creek camp ground yesterday, damn brutal ride, technical as all get out with the boulder wash and such but... a great ride overall with minimal blood.

I like the area...a lot...but it is getting pressure. I'm hoping to get up to a few of those secluded beaver ponds and toss a few spinners before the cold season hits.
