i voted natural disaster, supper volcano to the north, but i also think eventually something will happen to the society in the next 50-100 years.
i got some gear, most of it is camping stuff, but high quality everything. if you are going to buy somethign why not save the money and buy the best of the best so it is what you actually will use and will last a while. We also have a plan, and all the basic tools as well as extensive outdoors knowledge.
Naw where we live I have a + advantage over incoming threats. we shop costco for bulk, I stock the freezer. And we have always had to survive. maybe that's why the Great Spirit has taught us so much.

Being in suburbiia, I have reinforced my house as best I can to keep unwanteds out even in an event of SHTF.
My food stores and water are there and my ammo and firearms to arm the neighborhood.
I wont be going anywhere. If this happenes when I am out of town, I have a rifle and pistol and my mountain gear to walk home if I have to.
If it gets bad, we have a bug out place to go. Hope it never happens though.
