Why does it have to be free?
Dragonman's is a greatly run range with RO's on site on teh 100yd. AND, anything goes (explosives, full auto, etc) on the 200.
Cause im broke.....
There is a free, unregulated (relatively) range near Deckers in the national forest.
cool, do u know the address or name of it?
I will try to find it on google maps, its a bit obscure.
About a mile- mile and a half past Rainbow Falls.. Mile marker is 87-88 somewhere in there.
You almost can't miss it though, I believe it may be the only side road with a stop sign on the west side of 67 between WP and Deckers.
Sarcasm, Learn it, Know it, Live it....
Spleify 7-27-12Marlin is the end all be all of everything COAR-15...
The site I was thinking of is a side road marked by a fence right before it (traveling southbound on CO-126).
It is a nonresidential camping area in Pike National Forest with several miles of dirt roads. If you keep to the right on the road and drive 1.5-2 miles (turn right at the fork), the road will end at a hill. The spent shell casings mark the spot.
The approximate address off of CO-126 is:
22228 County Road 126, Sedalia, CO, United States
It is in Pike National Forest, but I have never had or heard of any trouble from the U.S. Forest Service for shooting there.
I'll be honest, I'd rather drive way out to Deckers to shoot at the free range there than ever go to Dragonman's again (believe me, in time and gas you'll pay more to drive out to Deckers).
Hell it was shooting at Dragonman's a couple of times that drove me to pay the annual fee to join a private range.
Rampart will probably never open again
There is talk that the city is going to open a free, open to the public range near Cheyenne Mountain (probably a little bit south of town). Anyone know if there's been any movement on this?
