Other than that, there is the whole "reasonable" Argument.

or how about the .gov stays out of how I raise my kids. . .

    "our" parents smoked. . .
"we" rode in the backs of pick ups and station wagons . . .
    and "we" turned out ok.

maybe we should have the .gov make a law about kids on swingsets without helmets. If they don't they can charge the parent with child abuse. or all parents with swimming pools should be charged with child abuse. . .

IMHO, part of the problem today is that there are too many laws, and the .gov is too involved with shit they have no business.

I don't smoke, and my kids buckle up, not because "it's the law and I don't want to be charged with something", but because I'm a good parent and it's in the best interest of my children

Ask any EMS/Fire/Rescue tech if Children should be allowed to ride in the back of a truck or without a seatbelt. I Still have nightmares.

It's pretty much a common-sense thing. Don't let Babies play with loaded guns, Your Arms arent seatbelts. Lock up poisons.
This guy was a 'tard for letting his Baby have access to a firearm pure and simple.
I do agree that the Government shouldn't have their nose up my ass every time I turn around. But if Legislation isn't passed and measures arent taken the argument becomes "it aint illegal fer ma kid to ride on da roof o' da car at 75mph... stop oppressin' me. y r u in ma bidness?"

So yeah, the Knee-jerk reactions of the gun-grabbers isn't good, but we also need some tools in place to protect kids from stupid people.
