New 10mm owner

What are some good factory loads? Also should I get into reloading? I have a Colt Delta Elite.Thank you

I use double tap or buffalo bore, or my own handloads. most name brand 10mm loads are downloaded underpowered crap imho.
winchester 175 gr. at 1290 fps.
federal 180 grn is 1030 fps.
hornaday 180 grn 1180 fps.
buffalo bore as well as double tap's 180 grn is 1350 fps.

Congrats on getting a Delta.

Try some Remington UMC loads. 180 grain at 1150 FPS. I found them to be very accurate in my Colts. Also try some PMC 170 grain HPs.

The Doubletap and Buffalo Bore are very stout combat loads. I will use them only on a limited basis with my Colts.

I don't know much about 10mm but I reload for all of my calibers. I would say that the decision to reload depends on how much you shoot. You're going to have a fairly high entry cost, but when you're cranking out rounds for as much as 1/4 the cost for WWB I think it's well worth it. For just starting out I highly recommend getting a single stage press to learn on. I got the Lee Anniversary kit. It had most everything I needed to get going. I don't like the scale or the powder measure though. RCBS has good starter kits too.

I'm loading SilverTip 175 JHP (for rainy day) with 800x at 9.4 and then Montanna Gold 165 FMJ (for range time) with same load. No chrono yet, good punch and seems more accurate than me through the Storm Lake two port barrels.

I think Hornady is a pretty good bet for factory defensive loads. Federal makes Hydra Shok, but I am not sure it is really state of the art now. I have some old Pro Load gold dot, too, but it's hot stuff. If you want to shoot 10 in quantities of hundreds (or more) per year, I think you would be well served by a Dillon, such as the Square Deal or 550; single stage has it's place, but not for volume shooting. During the great ammo famine, 10mm was very rarely found, but reloaders were fine, assming they had primers....

10mm is what got me into reloading. I started on a Dillon 550 15 years ago and now have a Dillon 650. AA#7 is what I have found to produce near factory type loads. I have shot them through a Delta Elite, EAA Witness Stock, and a S&W 1006.

Primers were a problem for awhile, which is why most of us have a stock of them (5k-10k).
