Glock barrels question

Looking to get a Glock 19 and was wondering what caliber barrels can be switched into it. And how to go about doing this?

Some brands to check out for barrels: Lone Wolf, KKM, Storm Lake.

Warning: I have no experience with any of these though, but I plan to get a Lone Wolf 40-9 for my Glock 23.

(Say you wanted to shoot 9mm sometimes, 40 others.) Can you use the same magazines, or would you need caliber specific ones for that? Does that work for all models, full size down to subcompact?

With a Glock 23, I can get a Lone Wolf 40-9mm barrel, or a 40-.357sig barrel. While you CAN use the G23 mags with 9mm, it is highly recommended that for reliable feeding you use G19 mags. Same probably goes for .357sig.

Also, it's been suggested that you swap out the extractor with a 9mm one as the .40 has a larger curvature of radius and might not grip fully everytime on the 9mm brass.

Well, the reason for changing out the 40 extractor to a 9mm extractor probably applies in the other direction as well, that a 9mm extractor won't work on a 40 extractor.

It's really up to you and your gun. It may reliably feed 9mm through with a 40 extractor and a 40 magazine. It may bitch and moan until you decide to spend the couple of bucks and buy the 9mm extractor. It may then feed unreliably, in which case upgrade to a 9mm mag. If it stills bitches and moans, send it my way...
