I'd choose one of the two Remingtons for the reasons stated above. Lots of aftermarket goodies available, and it's upgradable to the limit of your budget.

I'm partial to the .308, but most of my shooting is long range competitions. The '06 should be good for another 100-150 fps with the same projectile, so that might be a factor for a hunter. For my type of shooting I dial for elevation, so I almost don't care about muzzle velocity.

Finally, if you haven't picked up the heavy barrel version yet, do so. That's what I shoot, and I wouldn't want to carry that sucker around in the mountains.

To sum, if this is for hunting, not tactical competitions or long range, I'd choose the Rem in '06.
