I have always given way to bike riders. Partially because I have seen what a squished body looks like. My gripe is and always been the bikes on roads with speed limits above 50 mph. I am clipping along at 50 and a bike is going MAX speed at what 15-20? That is scary. Now I think bikes should be registered to ride on the streets, as they point out they are entitled, it’s their right. So by proxy they should have licensed plates and pay registration. Ok, now enforcement should take place based on infractions.

Bottom line, pay for the "right" to use the road; get ticketed when you break the rules.

Also, traffic statutes are rules, not laws. So although you get a ticket you're not in violation of the criminal statute until you fail to pay the fine or commit an offense of a criminal statute.

Huh? Where'd you get that idea? Title 42 of the Colorado Revised Statutes are laws put in place to deal with traffic and are listed in 42-1-101 as "Articles 1 to 4 of this title shall be known and may be cited as the 'Uniform Motor Vehicle Law'."

Sorry Chris! They aren't rules, they are laws!

Yeah, there's nothing like watching some bicyclist run a stop sign or red light and then scream at and flip off someone in a car who had a green light, and the right of way. Guaranteed if I ever see one do that and get hit, I'll be pulling right over to be a witness for the driver. This entitlement crap they seem to think they have is BS.

Great rant. I'll run a stop sign when I ride a bike, but only if there aren't any cars around. I'll also at least slow way the hell down first.

I stand corrected. CRS has punitive rules for driving.

Well I have to add my comments as they piss me off too!

They want their 3 foot passing gap, well:

Extend the same courtesy to me when I’m out running. At least one bike passes me within inches every time I’m out running. One of these days I’ll set my German Sheppard on them!

Don’t ride in packs half way across the road! By the time I eventually get passed you I feel the need to wash my windshield thoroughly!

Also if you’re on the wide side aka a weekend rider don’t wear spandex! You look like a multi-colored Michelin Man!

On the plus side I have seen the cops pull cyclists over in Longmont – sweetJ

This rant is right up my ally, I hate those bastards and have gotten to the point now that I don't come to a screeching halt if they zip through a stop and I'm about to hit them, I'll just hit them if I have to and know that I'm in the right on it. The other thing that really pisses me off is when they zip across three lanes on the road (like dick-weed cars do) - for these guys if they get close enough to me I intentionally swerve over so that they are destined to play chicken with my SUV. I get flipped off all the time from them but I'm happy to make their life miserable. If they would just obey the laws that the rest of us do then there wouldn't be so much animosity, but this happens so much that now I'm just out to get them .

Oh, and to the morons who wear spandex with "sponsors" on them, YOU ARE NOT LANCE ARMSTRONG YOU MOUSE DICK, spandex is a privilege, NOT a right!
