Buddy of mine had his all original showroom 60ish Dodge Dart hit by a Bicyclist running a stop sign.
Sued the living SHIT of of him...
the replacement parts and lose of value for the vehicle, etc etc etc was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Guess what.
Car Insurance, unless you get a specific "recreational vehicle clause" doesn't cover bicycle operational errors.
took his house and everything he owned.

Well duh car insurance doesn't cover when you ride a bicycle. Home owners probably would have though.
Also, I think the last shit talking thread about bicycles caused us to lose one of our good members. Might be partially because he moved to NM, but I still suspect that thread had a lot to do with it.

Wow. I would think a bike hitting you would be part of your comprehensive coverage...but does a bicyclist count as an uninsured motorist? Or a falling object? Act of God? For all those who say next time let the bike hit you...no thanks. Even minor fender damage from a bicycle and its operator would cost a lot to repair. Although not a bicycle, a buddy of mine got hit by a motorcyclist that ran a stop sign and the motorcyclist went through the window, ending up in the back seat of his double-cab. I guess that makes it easy to get the guy to the hospital! I'll just continue to stop, call them ass-hats and return home to vent to you guys. It's all about the Benjamins and that is certainly cheaper than automotive body work! Every dollar I don't spend is one dollar closer to a another new gun...
A bicycle hitting you is covered by collision on YOUR auto policy; assuming you have collision. Byte Stryke was saying that the bicyclist's auto insurance didn't cover him, which is true.
