Airplane Pics

Not my pics...but cool nevertheless. Wife and I were in CDA yesterday morning. Driving down the road I saw an airplane at low altitude coming almost directly towards us. I thought that it looked like a B-25 but couldn't be sure from that distance. As it got a bit closer I told my wife, "that looks like a B-25. Holy crap! That's a B-25."

We watched it circle the city a few times before it disappeared. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera. (I know...dumbass!) Today I found out the details.

Where I used to live/work (SoCal), I'd go south on the 405 freeway to go home after work. You come right under the landing-path for planes at John Wayne Airport. One day, a B-25 was landing and passed right over me as I drove by. It was magical.

It's a fairly busy airport for it's size, because the only other airports are in LA or San Diego (there's Long Beach, but who the hell flies out of there...)

I did a couple flying lessons out of Van Nuys airport, and right next to the school was a hangar with a restored B-25 in it, and they were kind enough to let me crawl all through it. Amazing plane to be inside.

Worst picture ever, I know. I saw a couple of these flying around at Warren up in Cheyenne around August 3rd.

I went out Saturday evening after the CAF packed up and headed out to the hotel. Then back out Sunday morning at the crack of dawn. Pretty fun on both visits!
