Kelly Airpark....

Having just had a forest fire 2mls from the house, this scene is way too common.
The spotting plane was there by 7:00am every morning. Followed was the helo buckets and next were the slurry bombers. We had a couple of Hueys and several smaller choppers. No clue how many slurry drops. They just kept coming. At one point 750 people were directly involved in fighting the fire. Too many companies to count.
My hat goes off to every single one of them.

hard to get when they are hauling butt less than 1,000 feet over your head. Was cool to see the condensation forming around the wings in tight corners

That guy (Dave A) gave me my very first FAA check ride back in the mid 80s. Beautiful plane he and his wife built. He used to own one of the most beautiful sailplanes I have ever seen. A 20 Meter Janus two seater.
I remember helping build Kelly Airpark into a real airport. When we started flying there in 1987 it was just a field without a runway.
I still swing by there every once in a while to say hi and check in.
You know I like my coffee sweet in the morning
and I'm crazy about my tea at night
My folks just left OSH today. Hopefully they will send me some pics, but every year they take less (this is their 8th or 9th consecutive year) Maybe next year I can get away with them!
Edit: just got a few pics!
Homebuilt camping on Sunday morning - just barely starting to fill up as the weather kept a lot of planes away until Monday:
Monday Morning:
Filling up! By Monday afternoon, OSH had reached parking saturation.
Dad didn't take a lot of airshow pics because airshows are sort of old news for him. Stuff like this is always fun:

"I am a conservative. Quite possibly I am on the losing side; often I think so. Yet, out of a curious perversity I had rather lose with Socrates, let us say, than win with Lenin."

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
