What I love about pictures like these, is just imagine how much money is out in that field, decaying.
Each one of those are millions of dollars, and here I am, doing what I do, and maybe I will do a "big deal," but it will never equal the price of even one of those airplanes.
And there are hundreds of those airplanes...
There is always a bigger fish...
Man, the Stratotanker is 64 years old, I'd never have guessed.
Great place to take a tour. Went some 20 years ago. Very cool!
Believe its called the super guppy.
Too bad you didn't go in Stu. Theres so much to see... ive spent days there. Most of the volunteers are veterans & have amazing stories too.
My airstream has been stolen by dopers
I didn't have time. I mean, I guess I did, but I wanted to leave as soon as possible.
I was 12 when we moved to Tucson. Spent a lot of time at DM with my dad watching the U2s do “touch & go” and going to every air show during my time there. Later on we watched the A10s. Spent lots of time at the boneyard and the Pima Air Museum as well the silo museum.
Man, if you haven't visited the National Museum of WWII Aviation at the Colorado Springs Airport, DO SO! I've known there was a museum there for years, but never went until last weekend when the B-29 Fifi was at the airport.
Holy shit, what a cool museum with some KILLER airplanes! They have an F7F Tigercat that's just about the sexiest damn warbird I've ever seen. And lots of other great planess. And best of all, most of them aren't roped off, you can walk right up to them. And they told me that ALL of their planes are airworthy and get flown when they can. Go check it out!
There's a lot more of us ugly mf'ers out here than there are of you pretty people!
