If your post count is higher than your round count, you are a troll.
The camera in my phone is garbage so its hard to see but I'm pretty sure I saw a C5 on Saturday over east Colorado Springs. Might not be very interesting to some but it was new to me to see in the sky. Wish Id taken the picture when it was banking instead of staring at it trying to figure out what it was though.

It might be a C-17 with the winglet wing tips. Real workhorse during the Kabul fiasco.
I was tracking the 'FR 24' app and watching the air traffic for several days. Lots of USAF and reserve aircraft. That was the only time I have seen them recognize and describe a US military aircraft.
You could track the re-fuelers and recon aircraft circling areas around the base and a few MiL-24 copters wondering around.
Very cool tracking hardware out there.
Yup, winglets.
That was a really nice way of saying I was mistaken. Thank you : )
Ive been spending more time around bases so I get excited by everything & am still learning to identify. Wearing my glasses & having a decent camera would've helped. That sucker seemed huge.
C17 makes more sense around here. There was something flying around in the logs with a call sign associated with the airlift command with the call sign 'Reach' so there's some info available if I dig around.
Have a business account with fr24. Good stuff. Giggle

That's what I was thinking. I don't recall the Galaxy ever having 'winglets' and it looks like that plane does. Cool and fun regardless.
C-17s, KC-135s and KC-46s fly over my house damn near every day. I still enjoy seeing them.
ETA: That's what I get for responding without reading the rest of the posts. I see the mystery was solved without my valuable input...![]()

Don't wanna get shot by the police?

Every time I'm visiting around San Antonio, it's real cool to see those flying around.
Biggest thing I've ever seen flying was the Antonov
Getting my nerd on.... like to monitor air traffic locally. The tracker setup is a raspberry pi 4 running piaware, connected to an SDR using a 26in 1090mhz ads-b antenna. Fabricated an outdoor box to house everything & the antenna is about 20' up. Feeding flightaware, adsbx, and flight radar24. Tried feeding plane finder, but their software sucked and kept crashing my sdr. Currently ranked around 5800 for contributors out of 32,000 ish, worldwide. Id like to get the antenna higher & then the score would be better. Still fiddling with the project.
Can see traffic as far as Cheyenne & Pueblo on most days, even farther to the west though the range doesnt extend as far east (respectively) because of the large trees & tall building adjacent to/on the east side of my property.
Haven't looked through the individual records to confirm that was infact a C5 yet but Im pretty sure. Unfortunately Military planes dont have much info associated with them in the logs.
Evidently, I like planes & tracking them more than I ever realized, or was willing to admit until now.

YOU are the first responder. Police, fire and medical are SECOND responders.
When seconds count, the police are mere minutes away...
Gun registration is gun confiscation in slow motion.

My Husband is thinking about decoding random data for fun. He wants to know what all those random packets are because he doesn't know, they're taunting him & he needs to know if another layer of aluminum for his hat is required. ; )
I just like learning about the tech & tracking planes for now.

SDR is software defined radio? One of my earliest online contacts was a pioneer in SDR, using the Amiga Computer.
