Here is a pic from last year in Sacramento. Tanker 10 (3 holer) and a Forest Service King Air, Lead 52, working a fire north west of Chico.

Lead 52 picked his number as in MAFFS 5 and 2. You might guess he flew for us before he retired and went to the Forest Service.

Tanker 10 has been flying over my house non-stop for the last few months. They regularly refill their retardant at SMX (Santa Maria airport, for you non-pilot types ) I've been meaning to try and get some pictures, but none of them would be as cool as this, so I won't waste my time.

Having just had a forest fire 2mls from the house, this scene is way too common.

The spotting plane was there by 7:00am every morning. Followed was the helo buckets and next were the slurry bombers. We had a couple of Hueys and several smaller choppers. No clue how many slurry drops. They just kept coming. At one point 750 people were directly involved in fighting the fire. Too many companies to count.

My hat goes off to every single one of them.
