Tanker 10 has been flying over my house non-stop for the last few months. They regularly refill their retardant at SMX (Santa Maria airport, for you non-pilot types ) I've been meaning to try and get some pictures, but none of them would be as cool as this, so I won't waste my time.

Okay, I realize this is the aircraft pic thread. I have no pics. But I have to say, all weekend the B17 Flying Fortress, B24 Liberator, and P51 Mustang have been flying over Ft. Collins. My wife, God love her, runs out EVERY time they fly over. She is stunned that people walking the street don't even look up. But, that has always amazed her. After a lifetime in aviation, I guess you just know the sound of a Merlin, or the song of the Consilidated B24 of Boeing B17. Hey, some people today know where to find Pokemon, good on you!
Once, last evening, we were on the deck listening to the country song "You should have seen it in color". Well, as we were listening to that song, they flew over. So, yeah, we saw it in color. Much better than the history books, or TV shows.
We've been to Oshkosh for many years, so we've seen these aircraft, and many others that 99.999% of Americans will never see, but it never gets old. You can watch documentaries, read books, or just simply look up now and then for your history.
    Life is good.

I was doing volunteer work one day when the B-17 Aluminum Overcast was in town.

I saw it coming over where we were, and realized there was an elderly gent nearby that didn't. I said "excuse me sir, when was the last time you saw a B-17 flying over?"

He looked at me like "WTF?", and I pointed up at the plane. He stood there and stared at it in reverent awe, with his mouth open. I could just see him going back in time for a few moments, it was cool.

One of my favorite songs. Every time I hear that song it makes me stop and think.
