quick ar-10 question

will dpms lower parts kit with standard trigger fit with an armalite bcg? ive heard conflicting reports.

The AR10 lower with the exception of the take down pins and bolt stop appear identical to the AR15. I've not had an LR308 apart, but I'm guessing the big differences are here:

For the most part I will point out what's incompatible rather then list every part.

• Upper Receivers - This is the most significant difference. They are not compatible for the most part. There are cases of folks modifying them to work together but the results are unacceptable and unsightly in my opinion. Click on the images below to view them full size. • Barrels - While the barrels are the same the barrel extension and the threads of the barrel nut are not.
• Bolt Carrier Group - The bolt carriers are interchangeable if used as a complete unit. You cannot interchange the bolts by themselves.
• Magazines - Magazines are not compatible. Furthermore If you have a LR-308 based platform from a manufacturer other than DPMS you need to be certain what magazines your lower receiver accepts. There are variations that accept FN FAL, H&K G3 and possibly other magazines.

ok different question. if someone tried using an ar 15 buffer tube with an ar10 spring and buffer, what would happen? everyone says it doesn't work, you need to special short buffer, but im wondering what the actual issue is, i had a spare ar15 tube lying around so i tried it out and although i haven't fired it, the bolt charges back normal. thanks for the advice

10-4. QUESTION: Will an AR-15 (CAR) stock fit an AR-10?
ANSWER: Yes (with caveats). You will need to use either the carbine AR-15 carbine lower receiver extension (buffer tube) with an AR-10 spring and a shorter AR-10 buffer (to allow for the longer AR-10 bolt carrier group) or an AR-15 stock and the AR-10 buffer tube (but it will not collapse all the way). The A2 stocks are the same. The AR-10 rifle buffer is a little shorter in the AR-10 rifle.

thanks i appreciate the help, but i actually did read that. i know everyone says it doesn't work, but im wondering as to why. when a round is fired and the mechanism is pushed into the buffer tube is the buffer going to hit the back of the buffer tube or what? i just want to know what the issue is before i go out and buy a $90 buffer as opposed to a $10 buffer.
