    Default Your word

I'm just curious to see what other people think about this.

Someone tells you they'll sell you something. You agree on a place but the time has yet to be determined. Then they go and sell it to someone else because it was more convenient or they could get a bit more money. Is that a dick move?

I think it is and it frustrates me to no end. I feel old now saying it but remember when someone's word was worth something?
Do what you've always done and get what you've always gotten.

If they tell you it's yours and then back out I have to agree with dick move. I sold an AK not too long ago for $100 less than what I was asking. A guy offered my full price after I already agreed to sell to the other gentleman for the said $100 less. I could have easily backed out of the deal for the extra 100 cash. But then I would have felt like less of a man after giving my word to the other guy. Not too many morals or genuine people left today. Sad really but that's just the way it is.

a deal's a deal. i've sold some things for the agreed upon price then received a better offer. However once the deal's been sealed it's shitty of you to back out. UNLESS the deal is out of state and you posted prefer a local sale. then it's your call.
i also had a deal where the price was a steal for me and the seller told me another caller offered him 2x the amount. he told her only if the first buyer (me) backed out. i asked him why he said you were the first to say "i'd take it, cash in hand"

Dick move. I've had plenty of folks try to up me by claiming someone else had put a much better offer on something I agreed to buy, I tell them to piss off and I'll find it elsewhere if they are going to play those games - many of them finally tell me "ok, I'll sell it to you", so it was complete BS. If you say you are going to do something then do it, if you say you'll be somewhere at a certain time then be there. There are people of honor and people without, those without aren't worth my time.

A deal is a deal. Stick with the agreement or your name is mud.

A person who can't keep his word has no honor or self respect.

Quite a few people have little to no integrity unfortunately. You do the deal once it's agreed upon.

Old Japanese (Samuri) saying: My word is my Honor. My Honor is my life.

It's the instant satisfication and degredation of morals/ethics/standards in our society. Call him/her out on it. A man can't man up if someone doesn't help him realize his errors along the way.
