Maybe they are running a ponzi scheme with elk hides!

what i think is going on is basically a ponzi scheme. he probably spent the money that he took in deposit (50% minimum), and now cant pay the tannery for the finished product.
a friend was on the front range and was going to pick up his hides, mine, and another persons. rocky mountain tanners wouldnt answer the phone. the told the other person that the hides would be back this week, think we have gotten calls to tell us they are done, hell no.
the guy that owns the business is a moron. my brother started the business back in the 90's and sold it to this idiot in '99. very unprofessional on all levels. will NEVER give them a dime again, just hope to get my $222 back.
Take that prick to Judge Judy![]()
I'm telling you. Tom Martino.
"There are no finger prints under water."
I had my deer hide done by them last year and they seemed professional to me. Seemed like good guys at the time. Maybe they've changed, but my one dealing with them was positive.

I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.
it has been another month or so and still no hide. rocky mountain tanners is a worthless crook.
If we were to ask Uncle Obama, I'm sure he would tell us that this is Bush's fault somehow.
You mean it's not?!?! I thought everything bad was his fault.
I've had similar experiences with businesses and it really pisses me off when they do this to people. Call the BBB and report them. Tom Martino is a joke - as long as you pay the fee, you can be on his list of "preferred" businesses.
For those in the Springs, I have always taken my stuff to Timberline Taxidermy on Victor Place/Frequent Flyer Point (This is the road you use to get to teh Harley stroe on Powers between Constitution & Palmer Park.
For hides, they prep them and ship them off out of state to be processed.
For mounts, they charge a bit more than others but I've always liked their work - much better than the work I've seen done by other places with my friends animals.
Now, I have another guy who does mounts but who is fairly new (just a few years) and is a Marine Reservist who lives near my off of Austin Bluffs (near Barnes). I have seen some of his work at Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation events and everything looks really good. His prices seem lower than most but he can't handle a lot of stuff like the bigger places can. When I get something else that I think should be mounted I think I'll try him. (PM if you want his info)
