welcome to the forum
Van, since this is my first AR its hard for me to gauge the quality. So I went ahead and waited to respond until today as I got a chance to shoot at the range last night.
Range: Silver Bullet
Cartridge: Winchester 45 gr. JHP Varmint
Distance: 25 yards
Position: Free Standing (no sling)
Fired: 80 rounds
Problems:
Single Jam
Bolt not catching on follower
The single jam I cannot honestly say what happened. The cartridge was not ejected and the one being fed was rammed into it (enough to move the bullet 1/4" into the casing). I removed the magazine, tilted the rifle over so the ejection port was facing down with my hand under it and removed the squished round. Cycled the bolt and the empty cartridge was ejected.
The bolt not catching happened on the last two mags I shot (side note this was after the jam described above). Essentially I was not counting my shots and would get to the final one and the hammer would drop and nothing would happen. If I have the mag in and pull the charging handle back manually it will catch. My assumption would be the action spring in the stock is fairly stiff, though it seems unlikely since it was properly feeding the bullet every time.
The first 18 shots, keep in mind this is my first time shooting and with practice I will get better (also need glasses, but I am a man and put it off as long as possible).
Conclusion, it seems to be a great rifle despite the minor failures. The guys at RAR guns are informative and take the time to talk to you with any questions. If I get a chance to go out to Buyers and try it at 100 yrds or further I would happily convey the results to you.
Welcome to the site.
You should consider getting out to group shoots if you have a chance.

Lubrication or mag problem ?
Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to Fight, he'll just kill you.
It seems that it could be "over lubricated" form the builder (the interior of the upper "glistens" in the light from lube). But not sure if that can plausibly cause the issue I saw. Its a brand new magpul 20 rnd mag, perhaps it just needs to be broken in.
At this point I am not overly concerned, if it continues the next time I shoot I think RAR guns would feel some liability towards the situation. Might also try a different type of mag.
Thanks for your suggestions.
