Default National Guard member kills another NG member for car parts

I guess both buys are/were members of the National Guard.

LAKE ELMO, Minn. - A man who was shot and killed in Lake Elmo was trying to sell his car on Craigslist, according to murder charges filed Monday in Washington County.
Dao Xiong, 19, is charged with two counts of second-degree murder in shooting death of Youa T. Lor on Sept. 9. Deputies found Lor, 33, in a ditch on the 8800 block of 55th Street N. near the Green Acres Recreation Area around 2:30 p.m.
Both men are members of the Minnesota National Guard. Xiong joined in October 2008. Keng Thao joined in December 2008.
“Neither soldier was in a military duty status at the time of the alleged incident.” Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Olson said. “The matter is being investigated by local law enforcement, and questions about the case should be directed the Washington County Sheriff's Office."
Last year, someone on my local board reported a friend getting his Mitsubishi Eclipse stolen at gun point after a test drive. It was listed on Craigslist and that was how the thieves found the car.

I know we're the "melting pot" and all such, but I can't get over how the victims and the suspects's names really didn't seem like names of people I'd expect from Minnesota.

I agree, but getting blood out of automotive upholstery can be such a pain in the @$$.

Nah, that's not how the Guard works.

There were several church groups in Minnesota that sponsored Hmong refugees after the end of the war. That brought a lot of Hmong into Minnesota initially, and later immigrants headed there since there was already a large Hmong community.

They're Hmong. Common enough in that segment of the country.

Actually, still being hunted down for helping the US in SE Asia.

It is weird how certain groups of people settle in our country that is not what we would normally think would be geographically like their former countries.

For example: When I was in Iraq, most of our interpreters were naturalized citizens living in the U.S., but all were from Michigan, Detroit area. Apparently, there is a very large contingent of Iraqis, both Muslim and Christian Iraqis, living there. I would have thought they would have settled down in like Phoenix, where the blast oven heat is what they are accustomed to.
